At about 50 minutes drive from our lodge is Moholoholo, a rehabilitation centre for wild animals. Here they take care of animals that got wounded (often because of men). They also take in orphans and if possible the animals are rehabilitated and put back in nature. This is not always possible however. The animals that cannot go back
stay at the centre and get a job as ambassador of their species. The centre tries to educate local people about the necessity of nature conservation and wants to show the tourists the problems that there are with poaching, loss of habitat and problems between people and nature. Although they do not always tell a happy story, the centre does a very important job and it is very interesting to visit. You can see the animals up close and sometimes you can even touch them. You also get a lot of information, which is often told with a lot of humour and with several animal sounds. Many of our guests liked their visit to the centre.
